The
Hong Kong houseware industry exported a total of US$22.2 billion worth
of household goods in 2004, representing a growth of 12% over the
previous year. And as consumers nowadays spend more time at home and
have become more demanding on the choice of products, sales in the
houseware industry is looking up.
Under such promising
environment, Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2005 was staged at the Hong
Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 21 - 24 April with even
greater success than ever before. As Asia's biggest houseware show,
Hong Kong Houseware Fair has grown by leaps and bounds with a record
of over 2,100 exhibitors from 37 countries and regions. Among them
were 15 group pavilions from Australia, Chinese mainland, Germany,
India, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan,
Thailand, US, Vietnam and first-time participant Turkey.
The fair's huge
variety and scope of products, divided into easily accessible categories,
have satisfied the sourcing needs of the tens of thousands of buyers
congregated during the four-day fair. Products featured in the fair
included artificial flowers, bathroom accessories, cleaning &
supplies, furniture, gardening & outdoor accessories, general
houseware items, health & personal care items, handicrafts,
hardware & DIY products, home decorations, household textile,
kitchenware and gadgets, lighting, small electrical appliances,
tableware, etc. Taking centre stage was the prestigious Hall of
Elegance, located in Hall 1C, which showcased world-class designer
collections and upmarket brands.
Against a backdrop
of improving business prospects, Hong Kong Houseware Fair 2005 opened
a valuable window of opportunity for buyers and sellers to renew
old ties and build new ones, discover winning products and new trends
and seal business deals.
A host of seminars
and talks were held to provide useful information to fair visitors.
These included 'Home Furnishing Design Business Strategy' by BALS
Corporation, 'Q-Mark Expert Series: Improving Product Quality &
Customer Services through an Effective Quality System' and 'Practical
Guide to Enter Poland's Houseware Market' by The Hong Kong Exporters'
Association.
The next event
will be held from April 21-24, 2006 at the Hong Kong Convention
and Exhibition Centre.
